Keeping our Chapter in Prayer: Supporting our Nominees & Delegates

Greetings from the Raisins CSG in Bellevue! As we gathered this morning for our CSG prayer experience in anticipation for the Chapter of Elections, we were inspired by the reading from Passover Remembered:

Set out in the dark.
I will send fire
to warm and encourage you.
I will be with you in the fire
and it will be with you in the cloud.

You will learn to eat new food
and find refuge in new places.
I will give you dreams in the desert
to guide you safely home to that place
you have not seen.
An Invitation

Each of us has (or will) participated in the January CSG prayer process in our 3 geographic areas. Meanwhile, our nominees and delegates are themselves continuing this communal discernment process and preparing for the Chapter of Elections in just two weeks.

Given our distance from one another, the Raisins CSG thought it would be a nice idea to open up a conversation using the Internet as a way to share our hopes and prayers with each other easily across the miles.

Please join us here for this conversation over the next two weeks. The comment box is open! You can leave a comment on the blog and read the others as well. Our idea is to offer our prayer and support to the nominees, delegates and entire Congregation. If you don't see the comments below, click here or on the comments link at the bottom of this post.)

Some suggested Conversation Starters

What are your hopes at this time in our history?

What prayers/words of encouragement do you have for our nominees and delegates?

How will you continue to prepare and participate in the second session of the Chapter?

Please join us in this online conversation.

In Love & Peace,
The Raisins CSG

(present at our January 10 meeting - Julie Codd, Margaret Dimond, Susan Francois, Carmel Little, Doug Johnson)

I for one am so very grateful for each of the eight women who have stayed open to leadership. There is such wisdom, experience, energy and creativity in this group. I have great hopes for the future of our Conversation, at this time of our 125th Anniversary!

Peace,
Susan Francois

I am totally in awe of the brave and wonderful women who are remaining open to leadership...most especially those who have just been serving...and are ready and willing to serve once again...but in this new and exciting way! I am jealour that your CSG has met...our group is The Four Winds and so we will not get together physically...but are always together in SPIRIT!...And I appreciate Susan making this easy and user friendly for us...who lack those skills...I feel very blessed to be a part of this community at this exciitng time in our collective CSJP history and as our nation begins a historic time. BLessings upon us all!

Thank you all for your encouragement and prayers during these preparation days for chapter. I, too, offer my prayerful support to our nominees and to all our sisters and associates. Love and prayers, Anne Hayes

I'm sending prayers and love from the tropics of El Salvador to each of our potential Congregation leaders: to Andrea, Anne, Corky, Kristin, Margaret, Maureen, Norah and Terry, my deepest thanks for your generous and courageous spirits! To all the delegates: thanks for your wisdom and discernment. I wait eagerly and with confidence for the spirit's voice, speaking through you.

This morning at our prayer Dorothy proavided us with a prayer for our Nominees. So the Novitiate House will be praying for each of you this week and next. During the election we will be having a day of prayer that the discernment will engage each participant at a deep level of listening (much as we experienced at the first session of the chapter). It is good to be a part of this process "from afar."

I echo the sentiments of awe and gratitude for the wonderfully-gifted women of courage who have continued to be open to the vast unknown that leadership will entail for the next six years. I am also holding in prayer all who will be selecting our new leaders. Blessings of peace to all of you!

This evening CSG # 3 gathered for the prayer of support for our nominees and delegates - Gail De Maria, Lucy Clarke, Norah Clarke, Joanne Paradise, Agnes Fox, Susan Whitsell, Terry Moran (Terry Donohue and Nancy Meisters are also members but weren't able to make it). The predominant sentiment was great gratitude that these fine women are willing to consider leaving very vibrant ministries for this service to the Congregation. We also sense an excitement that we are at a new moment in the Congregation's life where a lot is unknown and therefore a lot is also possible. We continue to accompany you all in prayer, with gratitude and expectation!

I hold the nominees in my heart which is filled with gratitude - grateful for their willingness and openness. As we gather in a few days for the Chapter, I pray for God's wisdom for all of the delegates and for their openness to the surprise of the Spirit.

Blessings of peace,
Carmel Little
