Saturday: Newsflash on Proposal Vote

The following recommendation came before the Chapter late this morning:

We, the Delegates of the 21st Congregation Chapter of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, affirm the movement of the Congregation as a whole and of the Chapter participants to approve the proposal on a timeline for elected leaders. This proposal includes:

• extend the terms of the current leaders to May 1, 2009
• reconvene the Chapter in January 2009
• date of transition would be May 1, 2009
  

The recommendation first came to a vote (by show of hands) of the Chapter Body. There were 128 yes votes, a unanimous vote.

The recommendation then came to the delegates. There were 38 yes votes, also a unanimous vote.
